Polsen, Richard Thomas "Mickey" Gently passed into Eternal Life at the age of 93 on July 24, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born on November 2, 1920 to John Polsen and Anna (nee Miller) Polsen. The youngest brother of Arnie and Leonard Polsen. Loving and dedicated husband to the late Margaret (nee Dragovich) Polsen. Loving and devoted father to the late Patrick Polsen, Pamela (Steve) Meddaugh and Mary (David) Zumstein. He is also survived by grandchildren Steven Swieciak, Thomas Swieciak, Joel Swieciak, Rachel Zumstein, Colin Meddaugh and Shannon Meddaugh, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Words cannot begin to express and honor this greatly loved and respected member of "The Greatest Generation". Mickey was a decorated war hero and survivor of WWII, having fought in the great "Battle of the Bulge" and the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He served in the Army's Infantry division as a forward observer as part of the U.S. Army BTRY "C", 109th FIELD ARTY. BAT., 110th INF. RGT., 28th Division. After the war, Mickey joined the Milwaukee Police Department where he retired in 1974 as a Detective Lieutenant. That year he joined the Greendale Police Department where he served as Detective Lieutenant until retiring in 1984. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him over his 93 incredible years. His quick wit, gentle humor, friendly, loving, and generous heart never dimmed throughout his life. We will miss his spontaneous songs and stories of his amazing life that will live forever in our hearts and memories. His humble heart honored the Lord Jesus through his unshakeable Christian faith. Visitation on Saturday, July 26 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel, 3801 W. Morgan Ave., from 12 noon - 1 pm. Funeral Service at 1 pm. Burial to follow.
