Joyce L. Hurd

Joyce Hurd, 84 of Milwaukee passed away quietly with her family at her bedside Wednesday, August 8th. Joyce is survived by her three sons Rick and his wife Gail (Jaschob), Bob and his wife Nancy (Kraus), and Dave and his wife Kathy (Landvatter), as well as three daughters, Mary and her husband Darrell Emmons, Lisa and her husband Darrin Hannemann, Jane and her husband Gerod Prince, her sister Jean McMahon of Des Moines Iowa, 18 grand children and 12 greatgrandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, her daughter Randa, and two grandsons, Rob and Kenny. Joyce(Davisson) was born in Rock Valley, Iowa and was married to Bruce Hurd on January 20, 1951. Together they raised seven children including Jane our beloved adopted sister. Joyce and Bruce opened their home to over 40 Foster children. Mom's love for her'Foster kids' was second only for her love of her own children. In retirement, Mom volunteered at Children's Hospital where she helped take care of AIDS babies, this single act defines our mother more than all others. We will remember Mom for her unconditional love of her family and chocolate, her sense of fairness, and the pride she had for each of us. Visitation on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the MAX. A.
