Joan K. Sougstad

Found peace on November 10, 2017 at the age of 70. Devoted daughter of Amun and Theresa (Tess) Sougstad, dear sister of Daniel (the late Mary) Sougstad, fond aunt of John (Barbara), Mary Jo and Thomas Sougstad. Further survived by great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joan will be remembered for her kind heart and compassionate soul. She loved people, especially children, and dedicated her life in service as an elementary teacher in the Wauwatosa School District. Joan worked diligently to inspire and provide her students with success. She was especially passionate about promoting a love for reading. Joans dedication to children carried into retirement. She was a devoted volunteer at Childrens Hospital where she comforted numerous newborns in the NICU. She was a caring, generous, and supportive friend to many. Joan will be dearly missed. May she be blessed with Gods eternal peace and love. Memorial visitation Saturday December 2, 2017 from 10 am until 10:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community (9520 W. Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners, WI) Donations made to the Children's Hospital in remembrance of Joan 's life are encouraged.
