Debra L. Burneske, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on August 27, 1955, to the late Ernest and Beatrice (Hintz) Nagorski. With a heart full of love, Debra is survived by her long-time partner, Brian Steele, who stood by her side as a pillar of support and companionship. Her sisters, Karen Kurath, Jan (Jim S.) Nagorski, and Jodi (Angel) Negron, remember her as a guiding light in their lives. Debra was a cherished godmother to Paul (Amanda) Nagorski and a sister-in-law to Jim Hurley. Her legacy of love extends to her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who felt the warmth of her care. The pitter-patter of paws will miss her too, as her cats Uhtred and Jackyl bid farewell to their devoted cat mom. Debra was preceded in death by her sister Susan Hurley and nephews Scottie and Shawn Nagorski, who she now joins in peace.

Debra's professional life was marked by unwavering dedication; she began her career at M&I Bank at the tender age of 18 and retired after 44 years of service. Her colleagues knew her as a friendly face, always ready with a thoughtful word or a helping hand. Outside of work, Debra embraced life with passion and enthusiasm. She was a consummate cat mom, showering her feline companions with love and attention. Baking was one of her many talents, and she took joy in sharing her delicious creations with those around her. Debra's zest for life shone through in her love for gambling, where she was known for her infectious laughter and the twinkle in her eye. Her hands were rarely still, as she found solace in the rhythmic movements of knitting, creating beautiful pieces that she generously gifted to loved ones.

Shopping was more than a pastime for Debra; it was an adventure. She delighted in finding the perfect items for those around her, a testament to her thoughtful nature. The silver screen was a portal to other worlds, and Debra reveled in the stories and characters brought to life in movies. Socializing was the thread that wove through all her interests, and Christmas Eve was a special time when she gathered with those she held dear, sharing joy, laughter, and, of course, her signature baked goods.

Debra had a unique relationship with nature, often found feeding the wildlife that visited her. Although she had a playful feud with the squirrels, they, along with the birds and other creatures, will miss her caring presence.

As we bid her farewell, we hold tight to the memories she leaves behind, a treasure trove of moments that will continue to warm our hearts. Debra's life reminds us to cherish the simple pleasures, to give generously, and to always nurture the bonds of family and friendship. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
